Mill Road Social Enterprises was established in 1981 as a community-based non-profit developmental centre and had a goal of serving 10 -12 adults with intellectual disabilities through a bakery and a woodworking program.
Today, we have 7 full time staff and 30 clients particpating in our daily programs – the BAKERY, the CLOSET, Shredding, Recycling & Village Market.
In 1992, we purchased an old refurbished CNR storage building from the local Kinsmen organization.
In 2009, with funding from Service Canada, we ran a research project to identify potential new business areas for the organization. Following that research, Mill Road Social Enterprises opened a used clothing store and started a village market during the summer months.
